Glazing

Preservation or UV filtering glazing is especially formulated to protect works of art from the damaging effects of 93 to 98% of ultra-violet light. Ultra-violet light will destroy your artwork if no protection is placed between the art and the source of the UV light. UV light can cause damage to the color of the art and the matting. It will not only cause these colors to fade, but will cause the fibers to begin to breakdown right in the frame.

Don't fight reflection - You have choices

When Should You Use Acrylic?                         Acrylic glazing comes with properties similar to glass above.

When safety is an issue - In children's rooms or public spaces where broken glass would be a disaster.

On large pieces - acrylic is much lighter than glass and is a safer choice should a very large piece twist or torque.

On valuable pieces where you don't want to risk damage to the art should the glazing be broken.

Never use acylic on charcoals or other friable media. Acrylic does hold a static charge more than glass and will pull loose media off of the art.
